How Do Lessons Work?

Larry and I will both attest that playing golf and teaching the game are the two biggest "whys" we do what we do.  Every time we compete or every time we step onto the lesson tee, we learn something about ourselves or the game, and it confirms that we have the best jobs in the world. For those considering golf lessons, below is a brief description of our process.

How Lessons Work...

Our passion is understanding the golf motion and applying it to your needs, wants, and dreams.

We take a holistic approach to the game and include golf fitness, video, and peak performance (mental/emotional) training (both of us are Peak Performance Mind Coaching/Spirit of Golf Certified Instructors) in addition to traditional full swing, short game, and course management instruction.

Larry and I are both PGA Golf Professionals.  This means we have completed coursework beyond a college degree that specifically teaches us every aspect of the game from teaching and playing to running a golf-specific facility.  He and I are also professional golfers, meaning we play competitvely on various professional tours and in professional events.

Most lessons are 30 minutes in length and may include time spent preparing the body to make a swing motion before the student hits a golf ball. This includes time spent in a mirror, using a training aid, or completing specific stretches or strengthening exercises.

Each student is encouraged to take notes or list takeaways that the student would like to review later. This can be done in a notebook or on a phone or tablet.

Lessons are scheduled 10-14 days apart to give students an appropriate amount of time to practice new skills and behaviors. Practicing between lessons is expected.

Practice includes time spent in a mirror, performing drills, reviewing swing videos from a previous lesson, hitting range balls, chipping, putting, and/or playing golf.

We appreciate you arriving 10-15 minutes before your lesson time so you can warm up, relax, and let go of anything that could be a distraction during your lesson time.

Who Do I Choose?

You may choose a lesson with Larry and/or Melissa.  We are most effective when we tag-team and do not charge extra for this collaboration. Our full bios are available at www.tricountygolfranch.com

Larry works best with students that:

  • ·         Enjoy practicing new skills
  • ·         Aspire to compete at his/her highest level
  • ·         Geek out when discussing professional golf, swing motions, and the newest in equipment and technology

Melissa resonates with students who:

  • ·         Are using golf as a vehicle for inner growth
  • ·         Might need to make non-traditional physical compensations to perform his/her best
  • ·         Are curious about golf and the mind/body/spirit connection
  • ·         Enjoy time outside, building new skills

We  have also added several adjunct instructors at Golf Ranch to encourage a diverse learning experience. We are confident that you will find someone that clicks with you.

   Many Birdies,
