Fill Up Your Cup
They say "when the student is ready, the teacher will appear." And almost on a daily basis, the reality is that "when the teacher is ready, the student will appear."
My students are BRILLIANT.
And I am so grateful that I get to be a witness to the brilliance..
My most recent encounter of greatness involves a hardworking mama of two; one by birth, one by choice. She regularly fosters cats and dogs. And is diligently working on a game that she shared with her late father.
She and her 7 year-old take back-to-back lessons weekly, and every now and then, share a lesson together. Last week, we went on the golf course and played a few holes. I prefer to give lessons on the golf course because that is where the magic happens, that is where the game is played.
As we were riding along, mama shared with me that she had been watching women hit golf balls on TikTok who had a different body type than the majority of professional female golfers. Then she went on to explain that many of the women playing professional golf might not be the models she needs to understand the golf motion. Then she continued to say that she is watching Haley Moore as well, possibly the Laura Davies of this generation.
BRILLIANT!
She found female golfers to model that filled her up, made her feel better about her journey on the links. It filled her mind with images of a golf motion that could work for her. All too often, we limit ourselves to the images that we see in golf magazines and on The Golf Channel. And that doesn't feel good to a lot of us. It drains us and makes us feel lesser. And Laura Davies is definitely a woman who believes in her game and the mojo that makes her great.
Golf is supposed to fill us up. It can help us realize the best parts of ourselves. And if your game is anything but this, let's find a way to fill you up!
Many Birdies,
Melissa
