Piggyback Rides
This guy gave the BEST piggyback rides! He was also the guy that spent countless hours on the range tee and golf course with me. As much as I would lean on him to help me get better, there came a point where he couldn’t do it for me. Often, our students will say that they do “IT” so well when we are around, but fall apart when they go to play or practice on their own. They are essentially getting a piggyback ride from us. They feed off of our energy and we program the thoughts for them and there is momentary SUCCESS! And this is all well and good, but eventually the player wants to say that THEY did it on their own. This lack of success often causes a downward spiral in confidence and motivation. And before you know it, the student is grasping at straws on You Tube or tries a different instructor, thinking that avoiding inner change and growth is the answer.
