Everything in Perfect Timing...

Image
I have played cast irons my entire life...until two weeks ago.  I jumped ship and transitioned to forged. I was ready for a change, a new challenge. As a golf professional, I understood that I would lose a smidge of forgiveness so I will have to be on my game. Although, I always hit it in the center of the face anyways. That's why they call me the Queen of the Par 3s.  Also, the last shaft I had was getting a little too balloony from my Wonder Woman power, so I beefed it up which is pushing me to train harder. I LOVE THEM . One thing I didn't really consider in my decision to switch is that my sequencing during my swing has to be flawless with my new weapons. Sequencing is the order of events in your golf swing.  It's like toasting bread. If you put the peanut butter on the bread first and and then put the bread in the toaster second, you will have an awful mess.  The same is true with your golf swing.  If you start your downswing before you finish your backswin...

You Get What You Get with Consistency

Consistency is one of my least favorite concepts in golf. I cringe when a student tells me that the goal is consistency. It brings with it the idea that we can perform the same way every time. That we kinda have control over our results because we are “consistent”. It takes out the fear of failure because we “consistently shoot between 75 and 82.” To me, it is a very stagnate and static concept. Adaptability brings on this idea that we have ability to make subtle changes based on lie, conditions, our emotions or anything else that might show up. It involves CHOICE . Every morning when we wake up, we are a little (or sometimes a lot) different than we were yesterday. Emotionally, physically and sometimes spiritually different. We might wake up achy or jump out of bed ready to go. We may desire a big breakfast or go...

How Do Lessons Work?

Image
Larry and I will both attest that playing golf and teaching the game are the two biggest "whys" we do what we do.  Every time we compete or every time we step onto the lesson tee, we learn something about ourselves or the game, and it confirms that we have the best jobs in the world. For those considering golf lessons, below is a brief description of our process.  How Lessons Work... Our passion is understanding the golf motion and applying it to your needs, wants, and dreams.   We take a holistic approach to the game and include golf fitness, video, and peak performance (mental/emotional) training (both of us are Peak Performance Mind Coaching/Spirit of Golf Certified Instructors ) in addition to traditional full swing, short game, and course management instruction.  Larry and I are both PGA Golf Professionals.  This means we have completed coursework beyond a college degree that specifically teaches us every aspect of the game from teaching and playing to ru...
